What is Manufacturing Readiness Level?

A Manufacturing Readiness Level (MRL) is a standardized framework developed by the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) to measure how mature a manufacturing process is. Rather than asking "Does the technology work?", MRL asks "Can we reliably build it at the quality, cost, and scale the program requires?
