Founded in 1976 under the name Western Rubber & Supply, Inc., Modus Advanced is a leading fabricator and distributor of performance polymers and engineered solutions for the OEM marketplace. We create custom components for clients who use our products in everything from electric vehicles, to military weapons, to external heart pumps.
Although we started with a focus on providing rubber components to a primarily West Coast client base, over 40 years of growth and investment in technology led us to rebrand as Modus Advanced in 2016. Latin for “measure,” “method,” or “way,” Modus® conveys our commitment to advanced materials, comprehensive capabilities, and rigorous quality. Best known as part of the phrase “modus operandi,” or “M.O.,” this name is in line with our philosophy of going above and beyond for our customers and our focus on designing efficient, precise processes that achieve consistently superior results for our partners.

With the latest AS9100 certification, we adhere to the strictest quality standards to ensure we deliver the most precise, reliable products possible.
With 162 participating countries, the International Standards Organization (ISO) is the world’s largest independent developer of standards for quality management. Recognized and respected for its mission, the International Standards Organization has over 20,000 standards that protect human health, the environment, and productivity. Modus Advanced, Inc. (formerly Western Rubber) was awarded this certification in 2008, demonstrating our consistent quality and delivery of high quality products and services, as well as our ongoing efforts to ensure complete customer satisfaction.
Earning a certification that deemed our products and services worthy of satellites and spacecraft didn’t happen overnight. Based on the ISO 9100 standard, the AS9100 is more stringent and boasts additional quality requirements unique to defense and commercial aerospace. To comply we have consistently guided our customers from prototype to production while maintaining a nearly 100% quality and on-time delivery record. To maintain even higher standards of quality, we’ve implemented even more third-party quality recommendations. Because even though it might be good enough for NASA, we still think it could be better.
The Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and TS16949 are standards that most suppliers to automotive OEMs are required to obtain. Our capability to comply demonstrates that we have documented evidence of our consistent performance and our ability to meet our automotive partners’ regular needs for parts and services. Additionally, we have the capability to support our partners’ compliance to the Medical ISO 13485 requirements, which allows our components to be used in medical devices.
The International Traffic in Arms Regulations is an export law that regulates the manufacture and sale of weapons technology. Enacted to prevent the disclosure of sensitive military technology to foreign entities, the annual ITAR certification through the U.S. State Department ensures that sensitive defense technology remains protected.
